GSN Game of the Night 10/3: Twins vs. Yankees

MLB Wildcard week kicks off tonight along with a brand new installment from Group Sports Network called the GSN Game of the Night! Each day we’ll pick one game from any of the major sports and write a short preview on it. With baseball’s regular season now concluded, it can be tough for sports fans to find entertainment during the week. GSN has you covered! Now on to tonight’s postseason matchup:

Team Odds: NYY -270, MIN +225

Total: u/o 7.5

Location: Yankee Stadium

Lineups:

Thoughts & Predictions: It’s hard to knock a team that was so successful at home this season (51-30), yet it’s also hard to ignore the value on Minnesota tonight. Anything can happen in a baseball game, and it seems almost inevitable that the Twins will lose tonight. Because of this, I’d take a fly on Minnesota +225 if I were betting on the game. Brett Gardener and Jacoby Ellsbury have consistently put up good numbers against Santana throughout their careers, but other than that the rest of the lineup either hasn’t seen much from the Twins ace or hasn’t had much success against him. On the other side of things, Severino has only faced Minnesota once during his young career. The Yankees went on to win that game 11-3, however Severino only pitched three full innings while surrendering all of the runs scored by the Twins. Minnesota was also able to hold their own on the road this season, going 44-37, which is probably much better than anyone expected. It’ll be hard for the Twins to keep up if the Yankees score runs early, and because of this I’d roll with u7.5 and Twins ML +225.
